Giants help Indy rank No. 3 nationally in prep football

Ben Davis was rated No. 55 in the nation in high school preseason football by maxpreps.com, a site that features national high school sports coverage.
The Giants were one of six Indianapolis metropolitan teams ranked in the top 200 and those rankings helped Indianapolis land a No. 3 spot for the hottest high school football city in the country behind No. 1 Los Angeles and No. 2 Dallas.
The metro area rankings were determined by taking the top seven ranked teams from a metro region and then adding together their preseason national ranking to come up with a sum total. Los Angeles had by far the lowest total with a 92. Dallas was next with 252 while Indianapolis came in at 670 points.
Indianapolis area teams ranked in the top 200 included No. 11 Lawerence CentralNo. 55 Ben Davis, No. 87 Cathedral, No. 102 Center Grove, No. 125 PikeNo. 126 Carmel and No. 164 Bishop Chatard.
Ben Davis opens the season August 23 in Lucas Oil Stadium against Cathedral.
The Giants play all the Indianapolis area schools ranked in the top 200 nationally except Bishop Chatard.
The Giants also play at No. 27 Cincinnati St. Xavier the second week of the season.
