Boys win tennis sectional

Girls soccer finishes second in county

The boys tennis team won its second straight sectional Monday afternoon with a 5-0 win over Ritter.

The match was postponed on Saturday due to rain. The boys take a 15-8 record into today’s regional matchup against No. 3 Park Tudor at Avon.

In other action Monday, the girls soccer team lost 3-0 in the Marion County championship match to North Central. The girls finish the regular season 5-9 and host Decatur Central tonight in the opening round of sectionals. The game starts at 7 p.m. Ben Davis defeated Decatur Central 3-1 during the regular season.

Also on Monday, the football team improved its state ranking to No. 2 in Class 6A after beating previosuly No. 1 Center Grove 37-20. Penn is the No. 1 rated team in Class 6A. The state football pairings will be announced this Sunday. The football team travels to Lawrence North Friday night.

In other fall sports, the cross country teams (boys and girls) host the MIC meet Wednesday beginning at 5:30 p.m. Boys soccer begins sectional play Wednesday at Pike and girls volleyball travels to Perry Meridian Wednesday night.
