The horror/thriller movie Obsession (2026) starring Inde Navarrette and Micheal Johnston is about a guy named Bear who has feelings for his friend and coworker Nikki.
He was too nervous to ask Nikki out, he uses a “magical” object called the One Wish Willow to make her fall in love with him. Everything seems to be going fine for Bear since Nikki turned affectionate towards him, however, the wish quickly turns dark as Nikkie slowly becomes more unstable and extremely obsessive.
One thing I liked about the movie was the feeling of always being on your toes because you never know what would happen next. Or even when you could predict when something was about to happen, it would still catch you off guard.
Nikki’s behavior kept becoming scarier and more controlling and Bear starts to realize he made a mistake, which he calls the One Wish Willow customer service number, asking to alter the wish.
Bears character was so interesting because at first you’d think he’s the victim in this story, but the more you watch it and understand, you’d see it’s Nikki.
So many moments in the movie helped you realize Bear was the villain here, like I mentioned earlier, instead of calling to cancel the wish, he just wanted to alter it. Or when he literally heard Nikki pleading to take her out of her misery, he still wanted “Nikki” even if it wasn’t her.
The movie mixes drama, slight humor and horror amazingly, when scenes were scary but had a hint of humor, I didn’t know whether to hide behind my blanket or laugh.
The acting was also very convincing, especially during the emotional and frightening moments between Bear and Nikki.
Overall, I loved Obsession was an interesting movie with a good storyline, the movie showed complexities and it kept my attention the whole time.
