The movie is about a hopeless romantic who used a toy to complete his wish for his crush’s love, which triggered a dark enchantment on her and him.
The cast is fresh, full of young actors. It starts with the main character, and his name is Bear.
Bear has had a crush on one of his best friends but can’t say his true feelings. He finds a stick called a one-wish stick, and if you break the stick, then your wish comes true. He breaks the stick, and the girl instantly falls in love with him. This is when the movie’s creepiness starts.
The girl falls in love with him instantly, and it starts to get creepier and creepier. You can tell her behavior isn’t normal, she only does things because she wants her to do and even watches him in his sleep.
She acts as if he is the only person in the world that matters to her. It’s exactly what he wished for. She would do stuff that only helped them get closer together, and that’s when the horror elements of this film start to really take place and be prominent. As we see the lengths that she goes to take to make sure Bear loves her, and is the only person that matters.
The movie has its comedic moments and its horror as well. I think it’s a good movie and definitely recommend it.
At one moment you’re laughing out loud, and the next you get chills. It’s utterly gruesome but also utterly entertaining. Even if this concept isn’t original, the director represents it most originally. You see the psychological warfare Bear is going through as he regrets everything, especially the wish. You can see the girl fighting the entity, basically asking for help because she doesn’t understand what’s going on.
It was paced well, and the third act will have you out of your seat, terrified and laughing nonstop. It’s a great watch, especially as a new horror film. It’s the things in this film that indeed are horrific.
