Tennis team in regionals tonight

Boys win third straight sectional this past weekend

Last week was a great victory for the tennis team and its coach Kevin Vanderbush. The team held their ground in sectionals at home winning over pike 4-1 on Wednesday. Varsity one doubles, consisting of Mason Corbin and Montez Chirstmon, played point by point as long as they could before losing to Pike.

“It was nice to get the sectional win,” Vanderbush said.

The team beat Speedway 4-1 on Thursday winning their second sectionals of the year and moving to win sectional finals against Roncalli on Saturday 5-0. It marks the third straight season boys tennis has won sectionals.

“We had to beat all three of the top teams in our sectional.  It is always good to come away with a 5-0 win in the championship, allowing everyone to feel that they had a part in the victory,” Vanderbush said.

Today the team plays their regional match at Brownsburg against Park Tudor, an old rival of the Ben Davis tennis team.

“We only have one day to practice and then we will play.  Park Tudor is ranked number three in the state, so will be a very difficult team to play,” Vanderbush said.
