Taylor comes up big in Hoosier win

Starting cornerback Reese Taylor had one solo tackle for Indiana (6-1) in a 14-6 defeat of Wisconsin, and one pass broken up in the end zone on Wisconsin’s final offensive play of the game, preventing the Badgers from scoring a touchdown that might have resulted in an overtime game.

Dawand Jones started on the offensive line at left tackle for Ohio State (5-0) in a 52-12 defeat of Michigan State.

Delbert Mimms played fo North Carolina State (8-3, 7-3) in a 23-13 win against Georgia Tech.

WOMENS BASKETBALL

Nia Clark, who transferred from Miami to Xavier, had 14 points (6 for 13, 1 for 1, 1 for 1), 10 steals, four assists, three rebounds, and eight turnovers in 31 minutes for the Musketeers (1-0) in an 81-73 defeat of Detroit-Mercy. Xavier’s next three games were canceled or postponed.

Khera Goss had 13 points (4 for 5, 1 for 2, 4 for 8), five rebounds, three assists, one steal, and three turnovers for Toledo (2-0) in 26 minutes in a 75-65 win against Detroit-Mercy.

MENS BASKETBALL

 Michigan State (5-0) defeated  Duke 75-69, Detroit-Mercy 83-76, and Western Michigan 79-61. Aaron Henry had 14 points (7 for 21, 0 for 3, 0 for 2), five rebounds, five assists, three blocked shots, three steals, and four turnovers in 35 minutes against Duke;   12 points (4 for 11, 0 for 1, 4 for 4), a team high 10 rebounds, six assists, one blocked shot, three steals, and three turnovers in 29 minutes against Detroit; and 12 points (5 for 13, 0 for 4, 2 for 4), four rebounds, five assists, one blocked shot, and no turnovers in 31 minutes against WMU.

Ball State (1-2) lost 84-65 to Michigan and won 68-66 against Illinois-Chicago. Jalen Windham played 20 minutes against the Wolverines and had six points (2 for 8, 2 for 4, 0 for 0), three rebounds, and two turnovers. In the win against IUC, he had two points (1 for 3, 0 for 2, 0 for 0)  and one steal in 15 minutes.

Taylor (4-4) lost 84-54 to Mount Vernon Nazarene and 88-66 to Indiana Wesleyan. Jeff Clayton had six points (3 for 5, 0 for 0, 0 for 2), three rebounds, and one turnover in 12 minutes against Nazarene; and three rebounds in 10 minutes against IWU.
