The last time Ben Davis lost a boys basketball sectional game, the world had barely heard about Covid-19.
That date would be March 3, 2020, when Southport handed us a 58-48 loss. That years state tournament would never be completed as a week later schools were shut down and the world was turned upside down when Covid-19 began spreading.
This past weekend, the Giants claimed their fourth straight sectional crown with a 50-32 win over Roncalli in the Southport sectional champions. Ben Davis will return to Southport this Saturday for a 4 p.m. regional against New Palestine. The Giants are 20-5 heading into regionals while New Palestine is 22-5. Following the 4 p.m. game, Center Grove will face Franklin in another 4A regional. Semistate pairings will be announced Sunday afternoon.
