Asmar Bilal got to dress at linebacker for the Los Angeles Clippers yesterday but did not see game action. Bilal was signed as a free agent by the Chargers.

Delbert Mimms saw action for North Carolina State in a season opening 45-42 win against Wake Forest.

Marshall (2-0) defeated Appalachian State 17-7; and wide receiver Broc Thompson caught three passes for 37 yards, with a long of 19 yards.

MENS SOCCER

St. Mary-of-the-Woods (3-0-1) defeated Midway 2-1 and St. Louis Health, Science, and Pharmacy 1-0. The Pomeroy had 18 shots, nine on goal, against Midway; and Midway had seven shots with five on goal. In the St. Louis Health match each team had only two shots on goal. St. Mary took a total of five shots and St. Louis, 4. Andrew Aceituno was in the goal for the Pomeroy in both matches, and he had six saves while yielding one goal. Teammate Fausto Lopez-Ibarra played in both wins. Taiwo Amfowose had one shot on goal against Midway and took one shot against St. Louis.  Victor Villagomez took one shot against Midway and had one shot on goal against St. Louis. Fataka Anjolaoluwa played against Midway.

Marian (0-2-1) lost 3-1 to St. Francis and tied Huntington 3-3. The Knights had eight shots, five on goal; and St. Francis had nine shots, six on goal. In the Marian match Marian had 12 shots, seven on goal; and Huntington, 18 shots, eight on goal. Jalen Rice, who started in both matches, scored the Knights’ first goal against Huntington and assisted on goal two. He took three shots, two on goal. In the St. Francis match he took three shots on goal. Teammate Abel Alvarez played as a substitute against St. Francis.
