MEN’S BASKETBALL
Lincoln Trail opened its season with a 100-72 loss to Three Rivers. Mike Beaty had five points (1 for 5, 0 for 0, 3 for 3), three rebounds, and two turnovers in 16 minutes for Lincoln Trail.
Northern Kentucky defeated Wilmington (OH) 102-54 in an exhibition game. Brennan Gillis had seven points (2 for 4, 0 for 0, 3 for 4), four rebounds, one blocked shot, one steal, and two turnovers in 18 minutes.
Trevor Thompson played 13 minutes for Ohio State in an 85-67 exhibition win against Walsh and had nine points (4 for 7, 0 for 0, 1 for 1), two rebounds, one blocked shot, and three turnovers.
Vermont defeated St. Michaels 94-65 in an exhibition game. Dre Wills had four points (1 for 3, 0 for 0, 2 for 2), four rebounds, three assists, one blocked shot, one steal, and one turnover in 21 minutes.
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
St. Francis (1-3) lost 78-59 to Davenport and 75-63 to Aquinas. Savannah Davis led the Cougars against Davenport with 15 points (6 for 18, 0 for 0, 3 for 4) and had four rebounds, two assists, one steal, and four turnovers in 33 minutes. The freshman played only 23 minutes against Aquinas before fouling out and had 11 points (4 for 8, 0 for 0, 3 for 5), three rebounds, three steals, two assists, and two turnovers.
Ancilla defeated Andrews University 108-19 in its season opener. Shell Daniels started for Ancilla and led her team in scoring with 18 points (9 for 15). ShaeDanielsalso started and had six points (3 for 9, 0 for 2, 0 for 2).
WRESTLING
Redshirt freshman Dylan Lydy competed for Purdue at 165 pounds at the Eastern Michigan Open and placed fifth, winning four of five matches. After receiving a first round bye, he defeated a Findlay opponent 5-2 in the second round before losing 8-1 to Michigan in the quarterfinals. He then wrestled in the consolation bracket and defeated Ohio State 4-2, Northern Illinois 12-4, and a second Buckeye 9-6 in the fifth place match.
FOOTBALL
Franklin (7-2, 6-1) defeated Anderson (1-8, 1-6) 55-34. Anderson’s Malik Limehouse had one solo tackle, assisted on two others, broke up one pass, and intercepted another pass which he returned 13 yards. Darius Dixon started on the offensive line for Franklin at right tackle, and teammate Nathan Adams started at defensive end. Starting linebacker John Ward assisted on one tackle.
Justin Brandon assisted on two tackles for Buffalo (2-7) in a 34-10 loss to Ohio University.
Demarco Henry carried the ball four times for nine yards and had one solo tackle for DePauw (7-2) in a 50-17 win against Oberlin.
Grand Valley remained undefeated at 10-0 with a 62-56 double overtime win against Saginaw Valley. Jailyn Harden had one solo tackle and assisted on one for the winners.
Indianapolis (5-5, 4-3) defeated Missouri Science and Technology 16-6. The Greyhounds’ Malcolm Fogel caught one pass for a 14 yard gain.
Washburn (7-3) defeated Central Oklahoma 31-28. Chris McGee carried the ball three times for 12 yards, caught a pass for 12 yards, and had two solo tackles.
Antonio Allen had three solo tackles and assisted on two others for undefeated, top ranked Marian (9-0, 6-0) in a 63-14 win against St. Francis (IL).
Chris Evans caught one pass for 56 yards and rushed four times for 32 yards, with a long of 13 for undefeated Michigan (9-0, 6-0) in a 59-3 defeat of Maryland.
Asmar Bilal assisted on one tackle for Notre Dame (3-6) in a 28-27 loss to Navy.
St. Francis (9-1) defeated Davenport 35-6. Starting wide receiver Montay McDowell caught one pass for 10 yards. Na Shawn Lewis started at cornerback and had one solo tackle and two assists. Sean Boswell caught one pass for 24 yards, and Carlin Coleman assisted on three tackles, one for a loss.
Tre’ Tunstill had five solo tackles, one for a loss, and assisted on one other for Thomas More (9-1, 8-0) in a 63-16 thrashing of Thiel.
Lashawn Johnson carried the ball four times for three yards and caught two passes, one for an eight yard gain and one for a two yard loss, for Walsh (1-9) in a 56-0 loss to Ashland.
Tim Leath started on the offensive line at left tackle for Wabash (8-1, 7-1) in a 22-14 win against Denison.
WOMEN’S SOCCER
Franklin (16-4) defeated Rose-Hulman 2-0 in the Heartland Conference Championship Tournament semifinals before losing 1-0 to Hanover in the title match. Taylor McDaniel took three shots, two on goal, and scored the first goal at 0:38 in the win. She took two shots in the loss.
VOLLEYBALL
Purdue (15-10, 5-9) defeated Maryland 3-1 and lost 3-2 to Wisconsin. Danielle Cuttino had 22 kills with eight errors in 57 attempts (.246) and one solo block in the win and 19 kills with five errors in 56 attempts (.275), four digs, two solo blocks, and two assists on blocks in the loss.
IU-East defeated Ohio Christian 3-0 and lost 3-0 to Madonna. Madison Yoder had 12 digs, one assist, one blocking error, and two service aces with one service error against Christian and seven digs, one serving error, and one blocking error against Madonna.
