In addition, school uniforms can cause restrictions on student’s ability to express themselves, leading them to have lower self-esteem (NIH).
People may think students react dramatically by disliking uniforms, but many students want to go to school comfortable and confident in what they wear. That is personally one of the reasons I get excited for school – I have the privilege to wear what I like which can play a part in my confidence throughout the day.
There can be pros of school uniforms – mainly they are more cost-effective and it is easier to get ready for school in the morning – but there are also many cons as well.
Many kids don’t like school uniforms, kids can be bullied or made fun of, teach children to only agree instead of being creative, and affect the self-image and self-esteem of students. (WebMD)
Furthermore, not having school uniforms can make many school events more exciting and fun. Just like pep rallies and games, you can dress up and wear the colors that support your school.
In conclusion, there are many reasons why schools should not allow uniforms. Uniforms can have negative influences on students like having a low-self esteem and worsening their confidence.
Students should be able to express themselves by having the right and privilege to choose what they want to wear.
