I had the privilege of visiting Ball State for their High School Journalism Day in April.
It was a day filled with fun events, class sessions, and lots of information to help you become a better journalist or improve in the journalism field.
The day started by waking up very early, so I could catch the bus, which left around 7:15 a.m.
Once we finally got there, we started to go to our first class session. We got to choose our own classes to go to, so I chose to go to “Networking: The not-so-secret road to professional success” taught by Jayla Wilson. It was an amazing class with lots of great information and fun demonstrations.
After that, we all went to the auditorium to learn more about what J-Day is and to hear more information from the keynote speaker. We also watched people receive different types of awards.
After that, we had the option to go to another class session or go and have lunch at the dining halls. I chose to go eat with some of my friends at North Dining Hall, and the food was great.
After a few minutes of eating, it was already time to go! Going to J-Day was overall a great experience, and I learned so many new things. I will definitely be going back next year.
