Two Ben Davis Esports teams were victorious at the state finals event this past Saturday. Ben Davis is in the AAA division given the size of our school, similar to how our football team is “6A”. Esports is broken up into 3 divisions in the state — A, AA, and AAA.

Super Smash Bros. (ranked fourth going into the tournament) beat number 1 ranked powerhouse Mooresville in the semi-state match to advance to finals where they were able to beat Franklin Central. There were 20 High Schools from all over Indiana in the playoffs for SSBU.

Marvel Rivals, ranked fourth, won a close match vs. number 1 ranked Franklin Central to advance to the finals where they beat out INDLS (Indiana Digital Learning School) for the state title. There were 12 High Schools in the playoffs for AAA Marvel Rivals.

The event was the first of its kind and likely the largest scholastic esports event ever in the United State. Early numbers are showing roughly 1,300 attendees at the event where 28 state titles were won by high schools, middle schools, and Unified teams.
