Auditions for Much Ado About Nothing planned

Wayne Township Community Theatre will open its 2015 Theatre Season with William Shakespeare’s spirited romantic comedy, “Much Ado About Nothing.” A remarkably modern tale revolving around two intertwined love stories, “Much Ado About Nothing” will be presented in the Theatre at Ben Davis High School. Glenn L. Dobbs, veteran Shakespearean actor and Founding Member of First Folio Productions, directs.

Auditions for “Much Ado about Nothing” will be held on January 4-5 from 7-9 p.m. in the theatre at Ben Davis High School – enter door #2. Auditions will consist of reading from the script. If a monologue is prepared, please limit the material to one minute or less. Previous Shakespeare experience is not required.

Director Glenn Dobbs sets this production of “Much Ado” against the backdrop of VE Day in 1945. Glen Miller is on the radio, and everyone is dancing swing. Confirmed bachelor Benedick returns home from war to be met by the smart, headstrong Beatrice – always ready to do combat with a “merry war” of witty insults. Their love story is set against a darker one of young love between Claudio and Hero, threatened by the machinations of the malicious Don John. Passionate and bitingly funny, “Much Ado” is filled with some of the most brilliant comedic dialogue ever written.

Performances will run March 20-22 and 27-29, 2015.
