‘Love Letters’ to debut Friday

Community theatre in for busy month

Wayne Township Community Theatre will be busy in August.

The community theatre presents Love Letters over the next two weekends at the Ben Davis Theatre and will finish its 2013-14 season with Alice in Wonderland Jr. Aug. 22-24.

Here is a summary of the two performances:

Love Letters
Performances: August 1 – 3 and 8 – 10

Love Letters is a play by A.R. Gurney that was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for Drama. The play centers on two characters, Melissa Gardner and Andrew Makepeace Ladd III. Using the epistolary form sometimes found in novels, they sit side by side at tables and read the notes, letters and cards – in which more than 50 years, they discuss their hopes and ambitions, dreams and disappointments, victories and defeats – that have passed between them throughout their separated lives.

Disney’s Alice in Wonderland, Jr.
Performances: August 22 – 24 and 29 – 30
Directed by Tara Roberds

Rehearsals will be held in the evenings in July and August. Open to children entering 1st grade to entering 8th grade in the Fall of 2014. Please come prepared to sing and dressed to dance. Make sure to bring your sheet music – an accompanist will be provided.

Disney’s Alice in Wonderland, Jr. brings to life the classic childhood story of the girl who fell down the rabbit hole. The play follows Alice in her adventures as she travels through Wonderland. She encounters several beloved characters such as the Mad Hatter, the Cheshire Cat, the White Rabbit, and the Tweedle twins, along with the villainous Queen of Hearts, in her journey to find a way home.
