Parkland Community College (26-9) defeated Spoon River twice and swept four games with Illinois Central. Zion Avery had one hit in each game, home runs in each of the first three games, a double in game four, a home run in game five, and a double in game six. He had six hits and 11 RBI’s in 20 at bats in the six games and is now batting .361 (22 for 61) with seven home runs and 26 RBI’s in just 22 games.
Central Methodist (38-5) defeated Benedictine and then won four games against Baker University. No stats are available for the final game, but Isaiah Davis pinch ran in three of the first four games and scored two runs. He pitched one perfect inning in an 8-2 defeat of Baker, striking out one of the three batters he faced. His ERA is now 3.86 after a slow start.
MENS OUTDOOR TRACK AND FIELD
Grace’s Maurice Macklin anchored the winning 4 X 400 meter relay team (3:34.14) at The Huntington Invitational.
Rose-Hulman’s Noah Thomas, competing at his school’s Friday Night Spikes Series, won the 100 meter dash in a field of 17 (11.02) and was fourth of 15 in the long jump (20-6.50). Teammate Tyler Speitel was 18th of 25 in the 800 (2:02.89), and Franklin’s Corbin Lee (10:36.96) and Matthew Lee (10:47.95) finished ninth and tenth in the 3000.
Vincennes Jahod Fair was fourth of 10 in the 400 hurdles (56.72) at Indiana State’s Sycamore Open. The host school’s Mike Adams was sixth of 17 in the 100 (11.24) and 10th of 19 in the 200 (23.07).
Trine’s Zach Brickler placed 57th of 92 in the 5000 (15:56.21) at Hillsdale’s Gina Relays.
Indianapolis took part in the “Strive for Greatness” at Indiana Tech. The Greyhounds’ Hayden Baldwin placed sixth of 12 in the 3000 Steeplechase (10:39.36), and teammate Aaron Trejo was 32nd of 41 in the 1500 (4:37.54).
WOMENS OUTDOOR TRACK AND FIELD
Indianapolis’ Mariah Judy placed 16th of 41 in the 1500 at Indiana Tech’s “Strive for Greatness.”
Purdue’s Simi Akinrinsola was fourth of six in the open shot put (as opposed to the shot put invite) with a toss of 43.81 and seventh of nine in the hammer (45.50) at The Fighting Illini Big Ten Relays.
