Giants complete sweep of Pike

Ben Davis moved to 4-2 overall and 2-0 in the Metropolitan Interscholastic Conference following Wednesday’s 13-3 baseball win at home against Pike.

The Giants won at Pike Tuesday 14-4 and the girls softball team earned a 21-6 win at Pike Tuesday giving Ben Davis three wins on the diamonds this week against their conference rivals.

On Wednesday, Zach Witham picked up his first varsity win and Braden McGowan had a triple and a double. In Tuesday’s win, Matt McCleery was the winning pitcher moving his record to 2-0 on the year and Diesel Duncan and Brody William’s had two hits a piece.

In softball on Tuesday, Kansas Robinson went 3 for 3 with 5 runs batted in to help the Giants win their first game of the season. The Giants host state power Roncalli tonight.

In other Ben Davis sports, the boys track team hosts its annual relays Saturday at 11 a.m. and the girls track team runs at Decatur Central Friday night.

Ben Davis also was announced as host of the  boys, girls and unified track state meets by the IHSAA Wednesday. The boys meet will be contested on Friday, June 4 while the unified meet and girls meet are set for Saturday, June 5.

The meet has been held at Indiana University but IU has told the IHSAA they will not be able to host fans this year.
