Colts may be on to something special

The Indianapolis Colts have continued their hot start to the season past the midway point and are looking to be one of the seven teams in the AFC playoff bracket come the end of the season.

The Colts are currently leading the AFC South with a 7-3 record, after a victory over the Green Bay Packers in week 11. The Colts currently hold the number 4 spot in the AFC playoff race, as one of the division leaders, however the Tennessee Titans are hot on their tracks.

Tennessee also sits at 7-3 and the Colts victory over the Titans two weeks ago looms large as that is what has the Colts ahead. The Colts play the Titans for the second time this Sunday. This game is gonna be a battle once again for the division lead.

The winner of this game will take hold of the number 4 spot, with the potential of moving up to number 3 if the Bills (who currently have the number 3 seed) were to lose to the Chargers. For the Colts, they need to keep the foot on the gas because their remaining schedule is not one to take lightly.

First is a Tennessee team with amazing momentum after an overtime victory over the Baltimore Ravens. Then they play the division rival Houston Texans, the playoff hungry Las Vegas Raiders, and then the Texans again. And then they have a date with the currently undefeated Pittsburgh Steelers, which will be a real test for the team. And lastly they’ll close the season out in week 17 at home against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Even though they are 7-3 right now, it is not at all crazy to think the Colts could slip up and potentially miss the playoffs. I think the team’s floor is 9-7 and that’s my prediction for them.

I think they’ll lose to the Titans and Texans (in one of the two games), splitting those season series. I also see losses to the Steelers and Raiders. The Colts have a handful of loseable games to play to end the season and I don’t know if I trust Phillip Rivers as a QB to lead the team through them all.

With the AFC playoff race being fast paced and wide open for the wild card teams, the Colts need to bag every win they can manage, or they could find themselves on the outside looking in when the season ends.
