WOMENS BASKETBALL

 

DePauw (16-1)defeated Denison 49-47 and Ohio Wesleyan 73-53. Imani Graham played a total of 11 minutes in the two gamers and had three rebounds. She missed two field goal tries.

 

Shelle Daniels played 12 minutes for Tuskegee (9-8, 5-3) before fouling out in a 77-68 win against Miles and had six points (2 for 3, 0 for 0, 2 for 2), four rebounds, one steal, and one turnover.

 

MENS BASKETBALL

 

Aaron Henry had 13 points (5 for 10, 1 for 2, 2 for 2), five rebounds, three assists, one steal, and two turnovers in 31 minutes for Michigan State (14-4, 6-1) in a 61-55 defeat of Wisconsin.

 

Taylor (11-9, 3-5) defeated Goshen 85-59 and lost 92-63 to Indiana Wesleyan. Jeff Clayton had two points (1 for 4, 0 for 0, 0 for 2), five rebounds, and two turnovers in 12 minutes in the win; and two turnovers in seven minutes in the loss.

 

Lindenwood (8-7, 2-5) lost 79-67 to Indianapolis and 66-56 to Bellarmine. Jalen Newsom had six points (2 for 3, 2 for 3, 0 for 0) in eight minutes against Indianapolis; and three points (1 for 1, 1 for 1, 0 for 0) and one rebound in seven minutes against Bellarmine.

 

Miami, Ohio (8-10, 1-4) defeated Kent State 77-74 and lost 71-62 to Ball State. Josh Brewer played two minutes against Ball State and missed two field goal attempts.

 

MENS INDOOR TRACK AND FIELD

 

Indianapolis and Vincennes competed at Indianapolis’ Collegiate Championship. For the Greyhounds Hayden Baldwin was eighth of 40 in the mile (4:44.86),  Aaron Trejo was 19th of 46 in the 400 meters (55.30) and 16th of 37 in the 800 (2:10.54), and Ajarus Jones was 27th of 51 in the 60 meter dash (7.47) and 29th of 60 in the 200 (24.00). For the Trailblazers Jahud Fair was 13th of 20 in the 60 meter hurdles and 36th of 60 in the 200 meter dash (24.23), and Manny Opiew was seventh of 37 in the 800 (2:03.94).

 

Purdue took part in the Larry Wierzorek Invitational at the University of Iowa. All events were divided into two sections, the premier for the top competitors and the regular for the others. Araya Yonas was first of three in the regular 800 in 1:57.76. Ten competed in the premier event, and all of them had better times than Araya. Jalil Brewer competed in the premier shot put event and placed sixth of eight with a toss of 62-9.25.

 

Indiana Tech’s Maurice Macklin was first of 25  in the 800 meters (1:58.96) at the Mastodon Opener at Fort Wayne. Wabash’s Isaiah Campbell was sixth of 14 in the weight throw (45-8 ½) and sixth of 15 in the shot put (44-5).

 

St. Mary-of-the-Woods’ Carlos Davalos placed 48th of 54 in the mile (5:24.05) at Eastern Illinois’s John Craft Invitational.

 

Competing for Illinois State at his school’s Coughlan-Malloy Cup, Jordan Wilkerson eighth of nine in the 60 meter dash (7.22) and seventh in the pole vault (13-1 ½).
