Week ending Sept. 7

FOOTBALL

Asmar Bilal had three solo tackles and one assist for Notre Dame (1-0) in a 35-17 win against Louisville.

Starting strong safety Jailyn Harden had one solo tackle and one assist and broke up one pass for Grand Valley State (MI) (1-0) in a 35-10 defeat of Edinboro  (PA).

Josh Roberts had one solo tackle for Hanover (0-1) in a 45-31 loss to Centre.

In  (1-1) Indiana’s 52-0 win against Eastern Illinois, Reese Taylor had one solo tackle and broke up one pass. Teammate Jeremy Boyd also saw action.

Esezi Otomewo had one solo tackle and one assisted tackle for Minnesota (2-0) in a double overtime defeat of Fresno State.

 

Rose-Hulman lost 66-14 to perennial national power Mount Union (OH). The Engineers’  Noah Thomas carried the ball five times for 37 yards; caught two passes for 57 yards, including a 60 yard TD reception; returned four kickoffs for a total of 61 yards; and had two solo tackles.

Defensive back Mike Adams had two solo tackles and one assist for St. Francis, (IN) in a 56-6 defeat of St. Francis (IL).

Kalien Guillory played for Western Michigan (1-1) in a 51-17 loss to Michigan State.

Willie Ervin played for Garden City Community College (2-1) in a 61-0 defeat of Ellsworth Community College.

Broc Thompson saw action for Marshall in a  14-7 loss to Boise State at Boise State.

Darius Randolph played for Ohio Wesleyan (1-0) in a 22-10 win against Otterbein.

Elijah Ball played for Purdue (1-1) in a 42-24 win against Vanderbilt.

MENS CROSS COUNTRY

 Franklin finished second of five teams at the 6K Hanover Invitational. Freshman Corbin Lee was fifth for Franklin and 20th of 48 overall in 22:54.7, while Matthew Lee was 28th in 23:50.8.

MENS TENNIS

 Marian (3-1) lost 7-0 to Indiana Wesleyan and defeated Taylor 6-1. Ian Dieters, playing No. 5singles and No. 1 doubles, lost 6-3, 6-3 in singles and 6-3 in doubles to IWU and won 6-4, 6-2 and 6-3 against Taylor.

VOLLEYBALL

Purdue (2-1) defeated Ball State 3-0 and lost 3-2 to Notre Dame. Shavona Cuttino played three sets against Notre Dame and had one kill in three attempts, two digs, two assists on blocks, and one blocking error.

WOMENS GOLF

Marian finished eighth of 13 at the Indiana Wesleyan Fall Invitational and second of five at the Olivet Nazarene Invitational. Keely Jones was second for the Knights and 20th of 77 overall at IWU with scores of 79-72-156 and third for Marian and 10th of 35 at Nazarene with scores of 85-89-174.

WOMENS SOCCER

 Franklin (0-3-1) lost 1-0 to Wisconsin-LaCrosse and tied Calvin 0-0. They have yet to score a goal in four matches.Taylor McDaniel took one shot against LaCrosse and three, two on goal, against Calvin.

MENS GOLF

 Franklin finished third of nine at the Dick Park Invitational. Robert Turner was fifth for Franklin and 30th of 59 overall with scores of 80-80-160.

MENS SOCCER

St. Mary-of-the-Woods  (3-0) defeated Brescia 4-0, Eureka 6-0, and Cincinnati Christian 2-1.  Victor Villagomez played in each match for the Pomeroy and with Cincinnati Christian leading 1-0, assisted on the tying goal.
