Giants claim third straight sectional title
Will face LC Saturday at noon at Southport
March 4, 2019
With just over four minutes left in Saturday’s sectional championship at Perry Meridian, coach Don Carlisle had a simple message for his team.
“Three more stops and three more baskets and this is over,” Carlisle told his team during a timeout. “Now go out and do it.”
That started a 12-0 run by the Giants that sealed the game. The Giants went on to win 69-51 over Decatur Central, giving Ben Davis its third straight boys basketball sectional title in Carlisle’s first year as head coach.
The Giants now face No. 3 rated Lawrence Central in the noon game this Saturday at Southport. Lawrence Central defeated Ben Davis 72-57 during Christmas break. Avon tackles New Palestine in the 10 a.m. opener with the winners returning for the 8 p.m. championship.
