WOMENS OUTDOOR TRACK AND FIELD

 Competing at Hillsdale College’s Gina Relays, Ball State’s Maritza Rodriguez placed second in a field of 107 runners in the 5000 meters (17:15.53). Teammate Meliza Rodriguez placed 46th (18:14.35).

Indiana sprinter Maya Caudle finished 23rd of 40 in the 100 meters (12.38) and 29th of 43 in the 200 (25.62) at the Lenny Lyles/Clark Invitational  in Louisville, Kentucky..

MENS OUTDOOR TRACK AND FIELD

Franklin’s Nate Adams placed second of 25 in the hammer throw (179-8) and 19th of 26 in the shot put (35-11) at the Heartland Conference Championships. The Grizzlies were eighth in the 10 team field.

Purdue’s Jalil Brewer placed third of 25 in the shot put at the Drake Relays (59-7 1/3).

Jordan Boyd of The University of Indianapolis finished fourth of 18 in the hammer throw (170-2 ½) at Miami of Ohio’s Red Hawk Invitational. Indiana Tech’s Maurice Macklin placed seventh of 25 in the 800 meters (1:58.42).

BASEBALL

After 37 games for Vincennes (16-22) Isiah Davis is batting .226 (14 for 62) and has a pitching record of 0-1 with an ERA of 11.68. He has appeared on the mound in seven innings of five games and has struck out 10 while walking 13.

Marian (19-24) lost to Mount Vernon Nazarene and won one of three against Bethel. Cody Turpen played in three games as a pinch runner and scored each time. He remained in two of those games and was one for two at the plate. The senior has played in 13 games and is hitting .200 (1 for 5).

MENS GOLF

 The Heartland Conference Championships are taking place in four rounds over two weekends. After the first weekend, Franklin is in fourth place. The Grizzlies’ Robert Turner is fifth for his team and 30th of 44 overall with scores of 83-81-164.

SOFTBALL

Eastern Illinois (31-17) lost to Illinois, won twice against Murray State, and lost twice to Austin Peay. Kayla Bear had two doubles, six singles, one home run, four RBIs, and four runs scored in 18 at bats in the five games and was caught stealing once. She is batting .349 (59 for 169).

MENS TENNIS

Trine’s Bryce Hernly won 6-0, 6-4 at No. 6 singles and 9-8 at No. 3 doubles in an 8-1 defeat of Alma.

Ohio Wesleyan, competing in the North Atlantic Conference Championship Tournament, defeated Wabash 8-2 in round one, but lost 5-0 to Kenyon in the semifinals and 5-1 to Oberlin in the third place match. Jacob Volbers, playing No. 3 doubles, won 8-2 against Wabash and lost 8-1 to Kenyon and 9-8 to Oberlin.

Garrett Bear won 6-4, 6-2 at No. 6 singles and 8-3 at No. 3 doubles in an 8-1 defeat of Mount St. Joseph; and 6-1, 6-2 in singles and 8-2 in doubles in a 6-3 win against Transylvania.
