The IHSAA announced new football sectional alignments this week and Ben Davis has been placed in a sectional with MIC rivals Lawrence North, Lawrence Central and Warren Central.

The Giants previously played in Sectional 5 with Brownsburg, Avon and Pike. Next year, BD moves to Sectional 6 with their eastside conference rivals. Sectional 5 now becomes Fishers, Hamilton Southeastern, Pike and North Central.

The move was a product of 5A schools Westfield, Fort Wayne Snider and Lafayette Jeff moving to 6A, forcing the IHSAA to realign sectionals. The new sectional alignment is good for two years and includes the oddity that just two state schools located south of Center Grove are now 6A schools in New Albany and Columbus North.

The IHSAA also announced new alignments for boys and girls basketball and volleyball but the moves did not affect Ben Davis. Soccer also has been reclassified into three classes next year,
