Wittman leads Wizards in second round matchup
Randy Wittman’s name is all over the Ben Davis boys basketball record books.
He’s third in points averaged per game (17.3), third in total career points (1,160) and second in average points in a season (23.2 in 1978). After graduating in 1978, Wittman went on to have a standout career at Indiana University, helping the Hoosiers win the 1981 national championship and being named Big Ten Most Valuable Player in 1983.
Tonight, he leads his Washington Wizards into Banker’s Life Fieldhouse for a matchup against the Indiana Pacers in the Eastern Conference semifinals.
Wittman is in his third season coaching the Washington Wizards, who are the fifth seed in the East and ousted the Chicago Bulls in five games in the first round of the playoffs.
The Pacers are the No. 1 seed and beat the Atlanta Hawks in seven games in the first round. The Pacers host Washington tonight and Wednesday.
