In today’s fast-paced world, we tend to forget to properly care for ourselves.
Students are juggling school, sports, and maybe even a job. With that on our plates, it’s not a shock we forget to check in with ourselves.
What’s self-care anyway? Is it just spa days and baths? While that can be part, self care is a lot more than just pampering yourself. It’s nurturing yourself, not only physically but mentally and emotionally as well.
We all feel overwhelmed and burnt out at some point. Sometimes, we’re just too busy to stop and regenerate so our own needs take a back seat.
Self care isn’t a privilege or luxury. It’s a necessity for maintaining balance in all of the chaos. Neglecting your needs can lead to serious consequences like anxiety, depression, and physical issues too.
It’s vital to set aside time for yourself. Just as you show up for your family and friends, tending to their needs, show up for yourself and tend to your needs too.
We wear our stress like badges of honor, believing if we aren’t constantly busy, we’re failing.
In reality without that rest time, we aren’t putting forth our best selves. We haven’t had time to regenerate our energy and we’re putting what’s left out on the table. This will quickly lead to burnout. It is super important to do things you love, take a moment, and catch your breath when you are stressed. Resting time will help you come back better than ever!
