Starting from the 1890s to the early 2000s and even till today black people have held a very high standard when it comes to making trends, fashion inspiration, hair styles, music genre, and even mannerisms.
Around the 1970s black people drove an immense amount of fashion trends, such being bell-bottom pants, high-waisted jeans, platform heels, colorful outfit wears etc. They even highlight the creation of the disco aesthetic with vibrant colors, jumpsuits, slick and stylish afro with big hooped ear rings.
Around the 1980s they brought in the very popularized genre hip-hop (honorable mention DJ kool Herc who hiphop was pioneered by). Hiphop is known for its swagish style creating the rise of sneakers, athletic wear, gold chain and saggy pants, over sized outfits.
Moreover around the 90s rap music took a big hit with popular and main-streamed rappers like Missy Elliot, Tupac, Snoop Dogg, Jayz, B.I.G, Dr Dre, 50 cents, Kanye etc.
The 90s really highlighted the influence that black people had on others because ever since then places like China, Japan, the UK, France and more have implemented hiphop into their country.
Around the 2000s groups started emerging such as Destiny’s Child, which featured that biggest black pop and soul singer Beyonce. Others included Blackstreet, Outkast, B2k, Boyz II men and more.
Even today industries like the kpop industry has shown heavily influenced by black people, with their English- korean rap musics, wearing grills (heavily popularized by black rappers) r & b musics, durags even doing slight controversial things like wearing box braids, cornroll and using words not to be used heard by black rappers.
Overall, black people continue to influence the world even in ways you couldn’t expect.
