Directed by Josh Safie and starring Timothee Chalamet, the new sports drama Marty Supreme brings energy, heart, and a surprising amount of humor to our screens.
The film tells a story of a young tennis player who has to fight against personal setbacks and intense competition to become the best player in the game.
Chalamet plays the character Marty – he is ambitious and reckless, classified as the underdog with big dreams and even bigger confidence.
While table tennis might not seem like the most intense sport ever. This movie turns every match into a high stake battle, they manage to keep the audience close to the action, making it feel intense and meaningful along with the beautiful sound track.
One of the strongest parts of Marty Supreme is the growth he shows by the end of the movie. The movie doesn’t just focus on trophy winnings, it focuses on personal growth as well. At the beginning, he was talented but immature. He’s a charismatic but deeply narcissistic, selfish, and manipulative hustler who uses people to achieve his goals of ping-pong.
As the story unfolds we get to see him learn about discipline, responsibility, and what it really means to earn and have respect.
