Need a warm fuzzy? Try Paddington.
The movie is warmly delightful. In this particular film the Brown family and Paddington are set on an adventure in his native land (PERU). When Aunt Lucy goes missing Paddington and the family spring into action to find her, and as a result are thrown into a treasure quest that they believe will lead them to her.
The film is great for families. There is a lot of adventure, it is fun and exciting. You will need to watch the FIRST TWO films to understand and benefit from the emotional climax of this movie. But there are some things that are different which will definitely give you a unique vibe.
The mother, Mrs. Brown (Sally Hawkins) does not return to reprise her role. Sources say a host of things occurred, such as her giving up, or needing to retire, or (death).
She’s now replaced by another actress, Emily Mortimer, and YES that makes this movie feel very different. But not different enough to mask the adventure or the love you feel for the family as a whole and the rest of the returning cast!
The antagonist in this movie is Anthonio Banderas. I felt as though he was perfect for this role. He brings a smooth, suave, element to this movie which is fun and comedic.
There are moments in the movie where you can really feel the momentum of the first two films merged into this new adventure which is really cool. You’ll get a lot more development from Paddington in this movie and a lot of closure about where he is from and what has made him the bear he is throughout the franchise.
It is definitely a movie that adults and kids both will love ! And the storytelling is indeed invigorating.
