Dawand Jones started on the offensive line for Ohio State (1-0) in a 45-31 defeat of Minnesota. Esezi Otomewo started on the defensive line for the Gophers (0-1).

Reese Taylor started at cornerback for Indiana (0-1) in a 34-6 loss at Iowa and had three solo tackles, one a sack and one for a one yard loss. He also fielded one punt and lost two yards on the return.

Purdue’s Broc Thompson caught one pass for 17 yards, and Elijah Ball saw action for the Boilers (1-0) in a season opening 30-21 win against Oregon State.

Delbert Mimms saw action for North Carolina State (1-0) in a 45-0 defeat of South Florida.

Damon Banks had one solo tackle for New Mexico Highlands in a 44-7 win against Fort Lewis.

Rose Hulman’s Noah Thomas had five receptions for 94 yards, including one for 49 yards; rushed once for six yards; and recovered a fumble in a 33-23 loss to Wabash.

Fairleigh Dickinson-Florham (1-0) defeated The Merchant Marine Academy 49-27.  Adam Reese had one solo tackle and forced a fumble for the winners.

Wayne Vaughn started on the offensive line for Manchester (0-1) in a 52-14 loss to Trine.

Braden McGowan saw action for Franklin College (1-0) in a 35-21 defeat of Illinois Wesleyan.

WOMENS CROSS COUNTRY

Transylvania placed ninth of 10 teams at the two mile Berea College Invitational. Toren Hartog placed 75th of 96, second for her team, in 15:19.8.

Indianapolis’ Mariah Judy placed 53rd of 70 in 20:01.7 at the 5K Butler Twilight.

MENS CROSS COUNTRY

 Indianapolis’ Hayden Baldwin placed 55th of 69 in 20:29 at the 6K Butler Twilight.

Competing for Franklin College at the 10 team Grizzly Invitational 8K Meet, Franklin’s Corbin Lee placed 106th of 130 (31:29.74), and Matthew Lee was 115th in 32:42.24.

Vincennes placed fourth at the six team 8K Evansville Invitational in a field that included Ohio State, Indiana State, Marquette, Evansville, and Oakland City. Manamanya Opiew was first for Vincennes and 24th of 40 in 28:08.3, and Ernest Momodu was 3rd for the Trailblazers and 26th overall in 28:55.7.

Jalen Rice took two shots for Marian (1-4-1) in a 2-0 loss to Holy Cross, Indiana.

Victor Villagomez saw action for St. Mary-of-the-Woods (1-0-1) in a 2-0 defeat of University  of Health, Science, and Pharmacy.
