After a season that was delayed and nearly cancelled, the Major League Baseball season has come to a close.

The Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the Tampa Bay Rays in game 6 of the World Series on October 27h to win the championship. This is the seventh World Series victory for the Dodgers, but the first in 32 years. It was a best-of-seven series that had everything any baseball player or fan could ask for.

It was a matchup of the two number one ranked teams heading into the playoffs, so everyone knew this series would be a close one.

Game 1 had the largest margin of victory for either team in the series, with LA taking the opening game by a score of 8-3. When game 2 came around Tampa Bay was already hearing talks of getting swept after their big game 1 loss, and they came out firing on all cylinders, and won game 2 with 6 runs to LA’s 4.

It was all back and forth between these two teams and game 3 was no different. The Dodgers bounced back quickly from the game 2 loss, and won game 3 (6-2) to take back the series lead at 3 games to 1.

Game 4 was definitely the wildest of the series. The teams combined for an astounding 15 runs, with a final score of 8-7 in favor of the Rays. A crazy final play that ended in a walk off run for the Rays capped off an amazing game, that was a true roller coaster.

After game 4, many people felt that Tampa Bay had the heart and the drive to make a run for the title, but it was the Dodgers who made that immaculate run. In game 5 the Dodgers would once again take the series lead.

LA won the fifth game by a score of 4-2 to take a 3-2 series lead over Tampa Bay, and after that there was just no stopping the Dodgers. LA would go on to win 6 3-1 and secure the World Series title.

The Dodgers never allowed for Tampa Bay to push their way to a series lead. I predicted that the Rays were a team that once you got them on the fence you had to put them away. That’s exactly what Los Angeles did by not allowing the Rays to push the series to seven games.

When LA got Tampa in an elimination position, they pounced. It was very relieving to see the MLB season end, after so much drama and uncertainty surrounding the season due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Now that the season is over, baseball fans do have the MLB award to look forward to –November 9-12 the MLB will announce the award winners from the wild 2020 season.
