MENS GOLF

Franklin placed fourth of nine teams in the Heartland Conference Championships.  The Grizzlies’ Robert Turner was fifth for his team and 23rd of 46 overall with scores of 83-81-76-75-315.

MENS OUTDOOR TRACK AND FIELD

Competing for Indianapolis in the D-II Great Lakes Valley Conference Championships, DeAndre Bluitt won the high jump in a field of 17 with a leap of 6-9 and placed fifth of 18 in the triple jump (45-1). Teammate Jordan Boyd was second of 17 in the hammer throw (184), fourth of 21 in the shot put (50-3 ½), and 15th of 19 in the discus (126-8).

Maurice Macklin helped Indiana Tech win the six team Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Championship Tournament as a member of the winning 4 X 800 meter relay team . He also placed 12th of 18 in the 800 meters (1:58.,13).

Marian’s Aaron Murray placed 10th of 23 in the 400 meters (50.87) at the Crossroads League Championships. The Knights won the 10 team event.

DeMarco Henry placed sixth of 21 in the discus (139-11) for third place DePauw in the 10 team North Coast Atlantic Conference Championships.

Jordan Wilkerson was a member of Illinois State’s second place 4 X 400 meter relay team at the Missouri Valley Conference Championships. The Redbirds finished fifth of eight teams.

WOMENS OUTDOOR TRACK AND FIELD

Indiana’s Maya Caudle placed third of 10 in the 100 meter dash in 12.25 at her school’s Billy Hayes Invitational.

Southern Indiana’s Ralen Campbell finished 17th of 20 in the long jump (16 ¼) at the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championships.

SOFTBALL

Eastern Illinois (34-18) won two against Morehead State and split two with Eastern Kentucky.    Kayla Bear has started all 52 games for the Panthers and is batting .353 (65 for 184) after having six hits, four stolen bases, one RBI, and one run scored in 15 at bats in the four games.

BASEBALL

Marian 23-24 defeated Huntington to end the regular season and then won three games in the Crossroads League Championships, defeating Spring Arbor, St. Francis, and Taylor to earn a place in Tuesday’s League Championship game. Cody Turpin scored four runs as a pinch runner in the four wins.

MENS TENNIS

 Trine’s Bryce Hernly lost 6-1, 6-1 at No. 6 singles in a 5-0 loss to Calvin in the first round of the Michigan-Indiana Athletic Association Championships.

Manchester’s Garrett Bear won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 6 singles and 8-6 at No. 3 doubles in the Spartans’ 5-3 loss to Franklin in the first round of the Heartland Conference Championships.
