MIC indoor meet opens track season

U of Indy to host competitive meet

The Metropolitan Interscholastic Conference indoor track meet begins at 5 p.m. today at the University of Indianapolis indoor track complex.

The Ben Davis boys are the defending MIC indoor champions and again field a strong team led by junior Chris Evans, the No. 1 seed in the long jump and a top contender in the hurdles.

Junior Christian Powell is seeded fourth in the long jump while junior Harrison Goss and senior Jailyn Harden are seeded in the top five in the high jump. The Giants will be a balanced squad with junior Jalil Brewer as the top seed in the shot put while senior Dallas Pitts is seeded third. Senior Derrick Jones is seeded second in the 60 meters.

On the girls side, sophomore Kyara Simmons is seeded second in the 60 meters, junior Erynn Young and senior Shavonna Cuttino are top five seeds in high jump and junior Ravon Woodson is seeded fifth in the long jump.

Both the boys and girls team also should field competitive relay teams.
