Boys claim track regional crown

State next for top-ranked Giants

The top ranked Ben Davis boys track team won the IHSAA Regional Thursday night at North Central, scoring 137 points over second place Lawrence North at 69 points.

Qualifying for the state championships next week from the field events are Jalil Brewer in the shot put, Deandre Bluitt in the high jump, Justin Brandon in the discus, pole vault champ Moussa Conde and runner-up Moussa Sylla, and in the long jump, Chris Evans, Jaymin Miles and champion Christian Powell.

 Conde and Frank Rhodes went 1-2 in the 300 hurdles and 2-3 in the high hurdles to qualify in both events. Derrick Jones ran a PR to win the 200 meters. The 4 by 800 relay of Ali, Aaron Murray, Tony Futrell and Tim Anderson took third to qualify for the state, and the 4 by 100 relay of White, Jones, Evans and Parish and the 4 by 400 relay of Wilkerson, Jones, Murray and Conde, both were regional champions.

The boys state meet is June 7 at Indiana University. The girls state meet is Friday at Indiana University. Ben davis girls competing in state include Kyara Simmons in the 200 Dash, Devyn Vandever 12th 300 hurdles, Erynn Young in the high jump and Maya Caudle in the 200.
