There is a new face on the Wayne Township school board.

Former Westlake Elementary School teacher, Raimeka Graham, is now a school board member for Wayne Township. Graham grew up in Indianapolis, and attended IPS schools from kindergarten all the way through high school.

She graduated from Northwest High School on the Westside. After that, she went on to Purdue University (West Lafayette) to get her Bachelor’s degree. She then pursued a Master’s degree in Education from Indiana Wesleyan, and a Master’s in Educational Leadership from Purdue University (Northwest).

Before becoming a member, she taught at Westlake Elementary as a 4th grade horizons teacher. She has been in the education field for over 20 years.

“I was an elementary school teacher for 17 years, and I’ve been an administrator for the past six years,” she stated.

Graham has three children — Imani (graduated in 2017), Kennedi (graduated in 2020), and CJ who attends Chapel Hill 7th and 8th Grade Center. As a board member, she hopes to achieve “educational equity and continue to advocate for public education”.
