Guard starts competition season with a W

Coach Brayton Mendenhall liked what he saw at Columbus East High School last weekend.

“We were all very pleased,” Mendenhall said of the winter guard’s performance in the inaugural competition of the season. “This year’s show is more challenging than last year and the performers handled the choreography very well.”

The Giants scored 63.3 points to win the Columbus East Winter Guard Invitational. Ben Davis is the defending state champions.

The Giants will compete at Danville this Saturday at 6:41 p.m.
