Township closes school on Thursday

Closing in honor of fallen officer Bradway

The M.S.D. of Wayne Township has decided to close all township schools on Thursday, Sept. 26 in honor of fallen Indianapolis police officer Rod Bradway.

Bradway was shot and killed during a domestic disturbance call last week near 46th and High School Road. Before serving with the IMPD, Bradway served with the Wayne Township Fire Department.

His funeral services begin at 11 a.m. Thursday at Banker’s Life Fieldhouse in downtown Indianapolis. Following the service, a procession will take place that will include many streets located in Wayne Township. More than 1,000 police cars are expected to participate in the procession.

Due to the length and timing of the procession, the township has decided to close all schools to avoid any delays in bus transportation.

The pep rally originally scheduled for Friday, September 27 is being pushed back to the following Friday, October 4 to avoid losing more class time.
