No Shave November was started in 2009 by the family of Matthew Hill, who died from colon cancer in 2007.
This is a month where people refrain from shaving and donate their monthly hair maintenance expenses such as razors, shaving cream, and more to cancer research. This money goes to a nonprofit organization to help people with cancer. They put your money to work, they use your donations to fund new research and possible ways to find a cure to cancer.
The purpose of No Shave November is to bring awareness to cancer and embrace our hair by letting it grow wild and free, since many cancer patients end up losing it. No Shave November is easy to participate in, all you have to do is put the razor down and don’t shave at all the whole month.
This includes facial hair and body hair but rules say if you have a strict dress code at work then you are welcome to trim and groom it here and there. Overall, No Shave November is a gesture of kindness towards people with cancer while also helping fund research to find a cure for cancer.
