The Class 4A No. 1 ranked Ben Davis boys basketball team drew a difficult assignment in the sectional 11 opener Sunday.

Ben Davis will open tournament play against Southport, a team that has taken BD to the limit twice this season. In the third game of the season, Ben Davis outlasted Southport 55-52 in overtime. Then in a Marion County semifinal game on January 13, Ben Davis won 63-52. Both those games were played at Southport.

In the Perry Meridian sectional, Roncalli will face Decatur Central in the Feb. 28 game. On March 1, host Perry Meridian tackles Franklin Central at 6 p.m. followed by Ben Davis-Southport game. On Friday, March 3, Pike faces the winner of the Feb. 28 game at 6 p.m. while the two winners of the March 1 games will play at 7:30 p.m. The championship is March 4 at 7:30 p.m.

Ben Davis is 24-0 and hosts Bosco Tuesday (6 p.m. start) before finishing the regular season Friday at Indianapolis Tech.
