Giants bow out in sectional opener

The Class 6A No. 2 rated Brownsburg Bulldogs proved too much to handle for Ben Davis Friday night in a 48-20 loss in the first round of sectional 5. The loss snaps a three year streak of Ben Davis winning the sectional crown.

Brownsburg jumped out to a 7-0 lead after Ben Davis mishandled a first quarter punt. The Giants never could recover from that miscue and never got closer the rest of the night. Ben Davis ends the season with a 6-4 record.

The loss also means the end of the fall athletic season for the Giants. The winter season starts this Saturday as the lady Giants basketball team hosts Fishers (10 a.m.) and Hamilton Southeastern (6:30 p.m.).
