The Class of 2023 learned this week about ordering graduation items from Herff-Jones. This Sunday, those same seniors who plan on moving on to college have the opportunity to complete the required FAFSA financial form during College Go Sunday.

November 6 is College Goal Sunday, which is Indiana’s largest FAFSA filing event. The events happens 2-4 p.m. Sunday where FAFSA filing experts will be available all over the state to provide FREE FAFSA filing assistance! There are several Indianapolis locations listed below. Families who file will allow their student to be entered into a drawing for one of five $1,000 scholarship opportunities awarded that day. Be sure to ask about this at your location when you file.

–Arsenal Technical High School (1500 E Michigan St, Indianapolis, IN 46202 – Computer Lab)
–Beech Grove High School (5330 Hornet Ave, Beech Grove, IN 46107)
–George Washington Community High School (2215 W Washington St, Indianapolis, IN 46222 – Door #22)
–Ivy Tech Community College (50 W Fall Creek Parkway North Drive, Indianapolis, IN 46208 – North Meridian Center)
–Lawrence North High School (7802 Hague Road, Indianapolis, IN 46256)

The FAFSA – Federal Application for Student Aid — opened up October 1, 2022 with a deadline for state filing by April 15, 2023. If you are a 21st Century Scholar you MUST complete the FAFSA by April 15 year or you will lose your scholarship. It is also better for ANY college-bound student to file early as awards are more accessible to those that complete the FAFSA at the beginning of the filing window.

There also will be FAFSA Nights coming up in the district for you and your parents to attend for help.

Ben Davis will host a FAFSA Night next Wednesday, November 9 from 4-7 p.m. in the BDHS Media Center with support from INvestEd which has online resources and support through phone or email and a Spanish-speaking interpreter from BDHS will be available for families.

Ben Davis University will host a FAFSA Night on Tuesday, November 14 from 4-7 p.m. in the BDU media Center which will also have support from INvestEd.

Ben Davis will host a FAFSA Night for Latino Families on Wednesday, January 11 from 4-7 p.m. in the BDHS Media Center and this will include several Spanish-speaking interpreters from the district available for families.

Ben Davis will host a FAFSA Night on Wednesday, March 1 from 4-7 p.m. in the BDHS media Center, which will also have support from INvestEd.

Ben Davis University will host a FAFSA Night on Monday, March 6 from 4-7 p.m. in the BDU media Center, which will also have support from INvestEd.

On Friday, April 14, 2023 both BDHS and BDU will hold FAFSA Filing Events during the school day for students and parents to meet the Indiana filing deadline on April 15th.

Lastly, BDU will hold a FAFSA Next Steps for seniors during Advisory on Monday, April 17 and Ben Davis will hold a FAFSA Next Steps for Seniors in the Media Center Loft during lunches.
