Staff and students in MSD Wayne give to others during holiday season
In the Metropolitan School District of Wayne Township, this been a season of giving.
MSD Wayne students and staff — from elementary through high school — collected 35,000 food items before Thanksgiving. It was truckloads of food, enough to feed 323 Wayne Township families in need.
The Key Club Secret Santa Project at Ben Davis High School was busy, too. The club gathered clothing and books for 116 children in Wayne who otherwise wouldn’t receive holiday presents.
In addition, students in each of MSD Wayne’s schools are reaching out to those in senior living centers in our community. For example, students at Wayne Preparatory Academy (formerly Wayne Enrichment Center) made holiday cards for the center they have been paired with, Crestwood Village West.
These holiday service projects are among the many MSD Wayne’s young people accomplish throughout the year.
“If you ever worry that we no longer care for our neighbors, come visit our schools and meet the next generation,” said MSD Wayne Superintendent Jeff Butts. “You’ll be pleased with what you see.”
