School sends team off with big rally
A rowdy crowd sent the boys football team off to state with a fun pep rally to end the school day Wednesday.
More than 3,000 students and fans filled the main gymnasium as the team entered to a slideshow of highlight pictures taken by Spotlight photographers. The pep rally then included a dance by the Diversity Dance Team, a season video highlight put together by BDTV and a talk from coach Mike Kirschner. Fans waved white and purple towels throughout the rally.
“Our motto has been ‘we are one’ and that means we are one as a community, not just a football team,” Kirschner said. “We have all been a part of something special that started way back in August. We have one more chapter to write.”
The Giants tackle Carmel at 7:05 p.m. Friday at Lucas Oil Stadium with the Class 6A state title on the line. Purple rain fans are asked to sit in section 113 in Lucas Oil.
