Runners ready for home meet
Invitational to kick off Saturday morning
The boys and girls cross country teams will see their first home action Saturday at the Ben Davis Invitational.
The boys race begins at 9:30 a.m. with the girls race set to start at 10 a.m.
Boys coach Nick Balbach is in his eighth season with the team and is excited about the prospects this year.
“I think Amanual Araya will be an integral part of our team along with David Behrmann, Josh Bishop, Cameron Peck, and Tony Futrell among others,” Balbach said.
Behrmann, a senior, has been the team’s top runner so far this season. He has been the team’s top finisher in two invitationals this season with a season-best time of 17:08.
Junior Connie Brahm has led a very young girls team so far this season. The girls have good numbers out this season, but are extremely young.
Balbach likes the invitational and uses it a measuring stick for the rest of the year.”
“Avon and Zionsville look to be a little bit better than us right now but if we continue to work hard, we should be with them at the end of the season,” he said.
