Four Giants make first team All-State
Castner leads impressive group
Kyle Castner, Justin Brandon, Norman Oglesby and Asmar Bilal: those were the four Ben Davis Gians that were selected for the Class 6A all-state football team. All four were seniors. The team is selected annually. Among the special (and in some opinions lucky) few chosen are the best football players in the state.
Quarterback Kyle Castner threw for 3,410 yards, 34 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions on the season. After breaking every major passing record in Ben Davis history, it’s only a matter of time before Castner scores his first division one offer.
Offensive lineman Justin Brandon had a tremendous year. He only allowed one sack that came only after Castner rolled too far out of the pocket. Undoubtedly the most talented blocker on the team, Brandon has an off from Ball State and is sure to have many more come flowing in after a stellar senior year.
Defensive tackle Norman Oglesby also had a spectacular season. He finished the year 4th on the team with 61.5 tackles. He also tied for second on the team with six sacks. Oglesby is a one man wrecking crew. He has multiple offers and is currently committed to The University of Cincinnati.
Linebacker/safety Asmar Bilal had an outstanding season as well. After leading the team with 129.5 tackles and tying Norman Oglesby for second on the team with six sacks, Asmar Bilal has racked up numerous division one offers and is currently committed to The University of Notre Dame.
These four studs helped lead your Giants to a class 6A state championship. Now they’re getting some of the recognition they deserve.
Other Giants that made honorable mention for the list include Chris Evans, Dorian Tate, Stori Emerson and Brennan Gillis.
