Giants dominate trophy line
Boys off to strong start, host invitational this Saturday
The boys cross country team is making a tremendous strides into fulfilling their goal of winning. The team has had a solid start heading into the BD Invitational this weekend.
The Giants kicked off their season with a strong showing at the Plainfield Relays. Adrian Carter and Noah Pumphrey finished as the first relay team from the Ben Davis, but they were 26th overall. Finishing second for the Ben Davis team and 35th overall was the team of Amanuel Araya and Eliu Rodriguez. Conner O’Day and Hector Perez finished third from Ben Davis and 47th overall.
“The team is growing and gaining an understanding of what it takes to be a cross country athlete. The varsity guys are rounding into form and just need to trust the process and keep the faith that all the hard work will pay off in the end of the year,” coach Nick Balbach said.
Coach Balbach is impressed to see the team’s success, but he wants more. Balbach continues to have his team work hard in practice. With two meets under their belts, the team looks to get better.
The Ben Davis Invitational is this Saturday starting at 9:30 a.m. Both the boys and girls teams will be participating.
