Big team, big statement

Lady runners start fast

The lady Giants cross country hit the ground running at the Plainfield Invitational. The ladies had a top 10 finish in the team rankings with seniors Connie Brahm and Katelyn Speitel leading the way. The tandem finished 13th in the 3 by 1 mile pairing with an official time of 38:41.19. Following behind them for the lady Giants were Senior Regina Wright and sophomore Krysta Speitel, finishing 37th with an official time of 42:58.41. “We’ve had a really good start to our season and we look forward to increase our success behind the strong leadership of the seniors and strong performances from our varsity runners,” coach Erin Toothman said. In the open two-mile, freshman Abbagail Speitel led the way with a time of 16:21.64 and a 57th place finish out of 182 competitors. Overall, it was a good weekend for the lady Giants and something the team looks to feed off of in preparation for their next event this Saturday at the Avon Invitational.
