Now is the time to start deciding “What do I want to do in my future?”
This question has probably popped into all of our heads at least once a month. With the constant emails from colleges and universities, it can get overwhelming at times.
On September 14 from 6:30 p.m.-8:00p.m. Ben Davis will be holding a college fair in the MPA. With on-site recruiters, this is a time when we can get our questions answered.
“I think students should come to explore and get to know about the opportunities that they may not have because the recruiters will be on-site,” said Kiara Cross, our college admissions coordinator.
So far 80 colleges/ universities are registered. Ranging from in-state schools like Ball State and Purdue to out-of-state schools like Oakland City University and Washington University. This event is not only targeted towards seniors but any grade wanting to go.
“The earlier the better so students can make informative decisions about the college or university they want to attend in the future,” Cross said.
When attending we can expect to sign up for an online system called Strive Scan. Strive Scan is a system where each student will get their own QR code containing their contact information such as email and phone number.
“They’ll be able to take that QR code up to recruiters from the college or university that they’re interested in going to, scan it, and essentially those recruiters will have their information to send them emails,” Cross said. This will make it easier for colleges to get your information instead of having to fill out flyers at each stand.
While last year’s turnout was low, we hope for the opposite this year. Even if you’re still deciding where you want to go or what you want to do, this can still be a great opportunity to get a better understanding of your options.
“They can get a general or more broad understanding of what the path might look like for them. It’ll be a good time for them to get their questions answered, ask about special programs, and get more information in general,” Cross said.
It’s never too late nor too early to start asking questions and exploring options. Again this will be held on September 14th from 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. in the MPA.
