Coach Don Carlisle and his Giants get pumped up during a 77-48 win at Lawrence North earlier this week. The Giants play Pike in the Marion County Final Four tonight at Southport.

Ben Davis coach Don Carlisle sports a remarkable 6-1 record against west side and conference rival Pike heading into tonight’s Marion County boys basketball semifinal at Southport. None of that matters, however, as the Giants battle for a spot in the county championship.

North Central and Southport kick off the Final Four action tonight at 6 with Ben Davis and Pike to follow. The winners return Saturday for the 7 p.m. Marion County championship game.

Ben Davis has not won a county title since 1995, Carlisle’s junior season as a player for the Giants. Pike has won seven county championships since 1995, including a three-year championship streak that ended in 2017.

The Giants sport a 10-2 record heading into tonight’s action and have won 10 straight, starting with a 63-60 win at Pike on December 3.  Pike has won eight straight since that game and sports a 9-1 record and a number 10 Class 4A state ranking.

Ben Davis advanced to the Final Four after beating Lawrence North 77-48 and Park Tudor 74-39. Pike reached the Final Four via a 76-74 win over Lawrence Central and a 52-45 win over Perry Meridian.

Sophomore KJ Windham leads the Giants with 15.8 points a game while junior Sheridan Sharp chips in 9.8 points and junior Zane Doughty adds 9.8 points, 11.1 rebounds and 3.2 blocks per game.

Interesting, in the four years Carlisle was a part of the BD program as a player, the Giants were 6-0 against Pike.
