Is social media manipulating our minds? My short answer – yes. I do believe social media is manipulating our minds.
Social Media is a place where people act what they’re not. Social Media is a big influence on people these days. Anything you see online people will follow.
According to Google “there is the risk that adversaries and bad actors can harvest user data and use the algorithmic structures and advertising functions of social media to manipulate users into thinking, believing, and acting in certain ways.” Meaning advertisements, moves, shows, etc, can end up being a bad influence on the way people act, treat others, think, and believe.
Social Media also has other ways to manipulate our minds. Our brains pay close attention to information about ourselves. We normally compare the information about ourselves and what we learned off social media and apply it to fit in socially.
The technology that shapes our social environments has immense power over what we say and what we believe.
Social media can also influence you to do a lot of different things. Whether that’s dangerous, smart, dumb, goofy, etc. People also get influenced by money. Regardless of the item, if people believe it they’ll do it too.
