Does peer pressure affect decision making? In my opinion, yes I do think peer pressure affects decisions being made.
Without peer pressure once you say no that’s your set answer. Peer pressure makes people get into your head to flip your answer into you saying yes to whatever it is they want you to do.
Google states “One of the strongest predictors of delinquent behavior in adolescence is affiliation with delinquent peers, an association that has been attributed in varying proportions to peer socialization and friendship choices, wherein risk-taking adolescents naturally gravitate toward one another.” meaning there’s been many ways proven that peer pressure affects the way people think at the time and moment.
Social motivation models assume that during adolescence there are situations where a high social value is attributed to displaying risky behavior which is independent from the non-social value of the outcome.
This lack of self-control can lead adolescents to show more erratic or distracted behaviors in a social environment as compared to a solitary context. The distraction model does not assume any changes in value computation, which means social media is also a big way of peer pressure and what it can do to people around the world who see it.
By the looks of Google and also living the teenage years, we all can say peer pressure can affect your decision making.
