Mariangel Morales Aparicio, Features editor
Hi there! Well, my name is Mariangel and I came from my native country Venezuela, two years ago. I am a senior and since I arrived at the beginning of 10th grade I have liked to be involved in different activities (But my english was not so good. The only thing I could say for sure and without help from my phone translator was: Hello! My name is Mariangel, I like pizza and I don’t speak English. Thank you and goodbye!). I love eating goodies (especially eating chocolate), and although I’m Hispanic I don’t tolerate spicy food. I like reading books of all kinds and although I can become a quiet person, there are times that I don’t. I usually participate in more than one school activity, so you may see me at some time (or you will see me in the future), in the halls, cafeteria or even your classroom to ask to participate in a good cause. My plans for the future is to continue studying (probably something in the area of medicine) and continue helping in the community. If someone ever tells you that you will not be able to do something or you feel that you cannot reach a goal alone, try hard and ask for help! Nothing is impossible, if after two years I managed to learn enough English to communicate and I have managed to have only A in all my classes, surely you can do whatever you want. When I arrived in 10th grade I joined the Key Club (a community service club here at school), and now in 12th grade I will be the vice president. There were many more things I did last year, which I loved and I want to do this year (like being in the reading club and in the meetings of the Hispanic student association). There are also things I’ve never done and I want to do, but we’ll see if I can do them. Be willing to learn new things always! Last year, something new I did was join the newspaper and I loved it, if you take the challenge and try something new this school year: Surely you will not regret it!
